Axent Wear Cat Ear Headphones FAQThank you all for the amazing support!
We've been over whelmed with comments and questions for the past week, so we would like to answer some frequently asked questions here!
Q: When and where can I order a pair?
A: We are currently working making a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign. Once the Kickstarter is up, hopefully in a month or two, you can pre-order through the Kickstarter. We will e-mail everyone and post the link to the Kickstarter when that happens. If you haven't signed up for e-mail updates yet, you can do so at http://www.axentwear.com/
Q: How much will the headphones cost?
A: We're aiming to keep the price as low as possible without compromising quality. The price we've decided on is $115.
Q: Will you ship internationally?
A: Yep! Though shipping prices will be different than domestic orders. We are not in control of how much shipping companies charge.
Q: Do the cat ear speakers actually work?
A: Yes, the speakers are fully functional so you can switch between listening
Going to China! It's been almost five years since I last visited my homeland, and I'm excited and scared at the same time.
My last visit in 2009 left me a bit traumatized but I think I'm okay now. My stepmother and half brother in China had tried to kill me with a kitchen knife. I was shaking and crying when I escaped in a taxi that night. After that event, I couldn't feel safe anymore. I changed my flight to return to the US sooner, and never wanted to go back again.
But that's in the past now. I miss my grandparents and other relatives. I miss the food, the cicadas, the unique mountainscape of Sichuan, and ever dwindling bits of the old city that's quickly being replaced by skyscrapers.
I'm looking forward to seeing how much China has changed. Though I'm not looking forward to breathing that air. Air pollution is such a constant health hazard that I had to buy hundreds of dollars worth of respirators for me and my grandparents. I will also be buying air purifiers (that's another five hundred dollars
Coming Back!Thank you everyone who has supported me and given me their valuable advice about how to deal with my family situation in China. I'm happy to say that my father and I are on much better terms now. It's honestly more than I could ever have hoped for and I haven't been this happy in a long time.
The comments you guys left really helped me believe in myself. Thanks to everyone's encouragement, I know I wasn't in the wrong. I was able to firmly explain my problems with my father. It took many long and heated discussions before we finally came to an understanding but it was definitely worth it. He eventually admitted that he was wrong, and shouldn't have brushed me aside as being "too bothersome" or not worth angering his crazy wife for. He said he regrets the way he treated me, and has promised to try to visit me once a year. It's really hard to put into words how much that means to me, and I truly thank you all for helping me get to this point.
I read in the comments that many have e
Respect YourselfMy friend shared this video to warn other artists about how she was taken advantage of, and I believe this is a very important message that every artist should hear.
I've lost count of how many times someone, be it a big corporation or an individual, have asked me to illustrate for them for free. It will always go something like this "You draw this for us, and we will include your name in the credits. That's good publicity for you!" as if such a pathetic offer holds any merit.
There was one specific case where a guy wanted to use my drawing as a book cover but didn't want to pay. He said he might print up to 50,000 books, so that's like an amazing offer of 50,000 views for me right? Wrong. 50,000 is nothing. We live in the information revolution. Don't forget we have places like Deviantart, tumblr, and all those social networking sites. Sharing art, like sharing any information, has never been easier. You don't have to degrade yourself for some disrespectful publisher to get you art se
Anime Expo!Anime Expo is finally coming up! It's the biggest anime convention of the year for me and I'm super excited to see everyone again As usual, I'll be in the artist alley with my prints and books!
The convention will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center this July 3rd-6th. I will be at tables A/B 37-38 as shown in the map below. See you there!
Fanime Stuff Stuff Stuff!!!Hey guys! As you may have heard, I will be at the Artist Alley Table T215 of Fanime this year with lots of prints, posters, cards, and the 1000 Words book!
The prints! And these aren't all of them. More are hidden under each other or out of view. They come in all sizes from the largest measuring 12x18 inches at $7 to the smallest measuring 3x6 inches at $1, and everything in between.
The Augen Auf playing cards will be for sale for $15 per deck, or $25 for 2 decks. I'm currently not selling these cards online so Fanime is the only place to get it.
MemoriesI've been in China for almost a week now, and all the memories I have of this place is flooding back. Unfortunately, many of those memories are quite negative. A lot of people commented on my last journal asking why my stepmom and half brother had tried to kill me. It's not a secret and I'm in a weird mood right now so I'll retell the story.
I last visited China almost five years ago. I was unfortunate enough to be stranded at the LAX airport for two days. During that time, I met another girl my age who was also returning to China to visit family. We talked for a long time and I found out her parents are also divorced like mine. She told me how her stepmom would regularly burn her with cigarette buds. I was horrified but I felt lucky that my stepmom is kind to me. I told her I was lucky to have a nice stepmom. I had never been so wrong.
When I first arrived, my stepmom greeted me kindly, and we talked, joked, and hung out like a regular family would. But her mask was quickly cracking a
I'M BACK!I am finally done with my last final of my last semester of my college life!!!
I've been pretty much avoiding dA for the past few months (except occasionally posting a few things) because I didn't want to get distracted from school work by all the awesome things on here but now I can get back to making my webcomics without schoolwork in the way Thank you all for the support during my college years I've been on dA since I was 12 years old and I can hardly believe I'm 21 now. It's been such a pleasure growing with this wonderful community and I look forward to many more years to come!
2012, my body is ready!
Fisheye Placebo ImagesI saw this awesome Fisheye Placebo music video by Linda Neumann and realized that it would probably be easier for music video editors and language translators to have a textless version of all of the panels so here it is https://www.dropbox.com/sh/84jcondrsylfh82/pVEbp8d1Qq
Feel free to download the images for any class projects, music videos, translations, etc. Please credit and remember that I drew these for everyone to read for free, so do not try to sell or profit from my work in anyway. If I find people charging others for translated versions of this story, or selling copies of my work, I will be very angry ):
That aside, check out the cool video! She did a wonderful job editing everything
My Deviantart Story
Deviantart is like the mother who gave birth to me. She gave me life as an artist, she allowed me to showcase my skills and creativity and even to express my ideas. Without Deviantart, there would be no Ry-Spirit!
Deviantart also allowed me to make new friends! Some of my closest friends I made are through here on this very website. And no they are not the three people in the image above, but those guys looks fun, contact me if you are one of the three people in the picture. Thanks
Deviantart has helped me grow as an artist and as a person too! Through positive feedback and compliments from the nice community!
Deviantart is like a home to me. This is the website I visit the most, I have made the most friends here, I also follow many other talented artists here who has inspired me. DA is my home!

How to make good comics: FailMaybe it's because I'm a (self proclaimed) comic artist, but sometimes people come to me to ask for advice about how to make good comics.
Aaaaand to be honest, I have absolutely no idea.
That doesn't stop me from trying to! My brain has a bit of an excitement rush right now since I'm going to leave for an almost-week-long road trip tomorrow with some friends which really makes me want to do something completely irrelevant to anything ever, so have some of my typical rambling again! Been a while, huh?
I bet many of those who ask how to do good comics want to become great comic artists as soon as possible, but actually, I think that one of the best things to do to become a good comic maker is failing. Yeah. Failing is something everyone wants to avoid, as if failing meant instant death or something, but it's something that really isn't all that easy to avoid. (Yeah, failing is embarrassing, which is why people who look like they're good don't show their fails.) And actually I

omgI was trying out Krita (a free drawing software) brushes, and had the biggest surprise to see this:
At first I was like "woah, this looks so much like my brush texture (that I really like and often use), this brush will be very useful!....w w-wait a minute."
These are the brushes I made available in a free psd brush pack a long time ago:
The "sponge-brush" in Krita is the EXACT same texture I made, but mirrored xD
It's a texture from a pattern I also made and mixed with other brushes from this pack. Here is the pattern for anyone who would be interested:
I do not blame them for this, I just found this funny and a bit flattering. My textures were made free to use, and Krita is also a free software, so I honestly do not mind at all :b
I was not expecting my brush pack to have been so much popular and used, I looked it up and my pack is now available on many sit

Some tips to get more watchers on dA x3First of all, the amount of watchers is only a number. It doesn't necessary say how good your skills are. It's more how many people are interested in your art and how much it's seen in the community, in my opinion. Never forget it!^^
Yes, it indeed is hard to get noticed on dA. There are so many amazing artists and if you're new here, it's a big challenge! However, there are some tips to get seen by more people!
Most of the tips are based on own experiences and what I observed. People have different experiences, so there is no real instruction! xD
Here are my personal tips:
Be active! It means, comment, fave and watch other people's art. Many of them will visit your profile to thank you and hey, maybe they like your art!
Commenting on many deviations also means that people will see your name and are likely to remember it!
Get an interesting avatar! Cause if your avatar looks interesting, people are more likely to click on it! Choose an avatar which rep
death vigil out in july
so, this july i am starting death vigil, published by image/top cow. it will be a monthly series limited to three 8-issue arcs, so there is a definitive ending. with this i have learned some of the things about publishing independent comics, and i am planning a video with some tips after i summarize my experiences. hopefully it will prove helpful for others to get their stuff published
but apparently rule 1 is promote preorders. preorders are crucial for independent books as they define the print runs, and are crucial to the sucess of the book.. so.. as my far more experienced friends told me to do....
death vigil is preorderable ...pretty much in any place or webstore that carries US comics.
you can find an extensive preview to issue 1 and much more here

A Guide to Writing DialogueWhat is dialogue, exactly? The definition from Merriam-Webster’s dictionary was several lines long, so I shall summarize it in a short sentence for the sake of the readers; it’s the writing that illustrates conversations between two or more characters in a story. We read and hear it all around us, but creating it in your own work can be a challenge. However, if you find dialogue an obstacle in your writing, then don’t push the panic button. In this tutorial, you’ll find by analyzing what dialogue can do and how to use it, you can turn your greatest fear into your greatest ally in your story.
What dialogue is
Like I’ve asserted before, dialogue is basically what the characters are saying to each other. It can be found in multiple mediums such as books, movies, comics, video games, etc. We even engage in dialogue daily without even thinking. When you talk to your best friend, a co-worker, or even your dog, you create dialogue. It’s exchang
five.Five is the number of times you worry he’s stopped breathing, as the surgeons carve around his heart, twisting away the plaque ridden arteries, and pulling a vein out of his leg. Five is the number of heart wrenching hours you and your family were waiting in the hospital room, worried that your lives would crumble, that there would be five members of the family instead of six, that five days out of the week he would not come home for dinner, that five kisses from him would no longer be given to his wife and four children. Five was the amount of fingernails you bit off while watching people enter and exit the waiting room, and the amount of minutes your mother spent on the phone, explaining that something was wrong. Five is the critical difference between holding a father’s hand as your mother cries into his heart shaped pillow. The difference between rejoicing and smiling weakly because he’s okay or carrying your father’s American-flag-covered-casket and watchin
