I couldn’t decide which version to draw since each conveys a different atmosphere. The day version focuses more on hope, while the night version focuses more on oppression, so in the end I drew both.

Day Version

~~~Original Description~~~

A scene from Fisheye Placebo.

This image was inspired by a free Breadley Manning protest I participated in. We were a small group of about 20-30 peaceful protesters met by an overkill of riot police. We dissipated peacefully to avoid arrest but the image of facing against a roll of riot police remained in my mind.

For those not familiar with Bradley Manning, he was the one who leaked the Collateral Murder video to Wikileaks. The video details the slaughter of innocent Iraqi civilians and journalists by American soldiers. Amongst the injured were 2 children whose father was killed. When the journalists' families asked about how they were killed, they were lied to. For revealing the true casualties of war, Manning was put into solitary confinement and tortured without trial. I honestly love this piece, there is so much symbolism and beuaty hidden within this piece.

Left or Right, the reality of oppression will be the same no matter who is in charge if regular people continue to let our would-be overlords of the political class divide us with emotionally charged distractions, alienate us from each other, and thus conquer us. Liberty is a tenuous, fragile thing never more than a generation from extinction, and those who would be our masters can use either party's platform to advance the cause of totalitarianism. Nobody will help us but ourselves. Police your own party, don't just vote dogmatically against the other guy, and support primary challengers if your local representative only an arguably lesser evil than the other team. We can do this and we must do this.

Always remember that the vilest of all evils are most often sold as the greater good.

Together we are strong, this is why they divide us.

This is a really powerful drawing, great job. I just have one question; I'm planning on cosplaying Frey soon and was wondering if the "You Are Free" was on the back of Frey's sweater or if it was just for this photo. Thank you. I love your stuff..all of it. <3

This image of yours reminds me a lot of my home country. I really wish you would make a few images from fisheye placebo and Knites available as prints, postcards or mugs. I would certainly be a possible buyer. Love your work. Keep up producing wonderful art..!
