Here's a quick process step by step for the Princess Mononoke fanart

If you are still learning Photoshop/SAI or any digital programs that involves layers, you might not understand this but I hope it makes sense to at least some people ^^;

On a side note, I will be at Fanime this year, I hope to see you there! :D

Ahhh, layers. How I have yet to master you.

This was very helpful. I'm terrible at backgrounds. It makes a lot of sense to do the forground and midground on a separate layer and worry about those first. I would still like to know how to do that nice glow and lighting effect though.

wow this is a perfect sort of tutorial. I already know how to use Photoshop and draw anatomy but I really love seeing the process and how you did this. It really helped a lot, and the way you described separating the layers is amazingly helpful. Thank you so much for this I really hope you do more!
