Knite: Sliver of Blueby `yuumei

I've been doing nothing but commissions lately so I needed a little break to get my creativity back

Most of you probably know by now that the character is Sen from my flash comic, Knite, which you can read here

I don't think I've ever mentioned this before, but the Chinese word on Sen's back is his name. It's written as "Sheng" in Pinyin (but pronounced more like Sen in English) and it means life, live, or birth depending on the context.

I drew this a bit different than the usual style for Knite. I wanted the line art to be more sketchy to reflect the chaotic cluster of buildings. I also used a reference for the background this time because I wanted the drawing to be as authentic as possible to what some parts of China is really like. However, I added the unnaturally bright blue sky to emphasize what's not there in reality.

From the rural mountains to clustered slums, her blog contains a great reflection of all sides of China
