Fisheye Placebo: Solo for the Self by yuumei Fisheye Placebo: Solo for the Self by yuumei

More drawings for my future graphic novel, Fisheye Placebo :D This is Frey playing the electric violin. It's plugged into his headphones and silent to the rest of the world. He does when he needs to plan out the next strategy to fight against a totalitarian regime.

You can see the violin design here Electric Violin Design by yuumei

The background words say "WAR IS WAR" on repeat. This phrase is traditionally used as an excuse for extreme war time cruelty. It's essentially saying "war is meant to be cruel so that's what you get." Although Fisheye Placebo will be more about cyber warfare, I think the war time mentality can still apply and can cause extreme psychology damage to those involved.

Frey is silently playing the violin on the outside, but a war is ranging on the inside.

I love how this piece is drawn. Me having been a violinist in my younger days can relate to Fisheye. Although in my youth there weren't such things as electric violins and headphone jacks. All I had was my room and a music stand.

I can also see that by the way you've drawn Fisheye that he's either self-taught or taught as a Fiddler? Or perhaps taught as an orchestral violinist who's getting a bit sloppy? If you're wondering where I'm getting this it's how you're drawing his hands.

His right hand on the bow is almost drawn the right way for a traditional orchestral spacing for how we're taught to hold the bow. Except you have his thumb next to his forefinger where it should be closer to his two middle fingers (traditionally the whole hand should be closer to the end of the bow with the thumb in the black portion next to the horsehair). The violinist can move the bow quicker with the hand at the end of the bow.

His left hand is bent at the wrist so it lays against the stem. This tells me he's either getting sloppy (orchestral taught, the wrist would be straight) or he was self-taught or taught by a fiddler. Most fiddler's have never played in an orchestra or taught by those who do so do not keep their wrists straight. By keeping the wrist straight a violinist can reach higher notes on the stem of the violin easier. (just observation)

As I mentioned, I'm not sure what kind of violinist (or fiddler) Fisheye is, but I completely love the picture here. And I have a feeling I would love to read the graphic novel as well.

I would highly recommend disabling comments on this one, as there's just a ridiculous amount of spambots here.
ALSO, I WANT ONE (Electric Violin that is, not a Spambot)!

Nice violin form. I see so much art where the violin is being played incorrectly and it’s nice to se it done right :) However electric violins still make audible sound (albeit not great sound), the headphones/amp just make it sound clearer and cleaner
